About
Verdi's opera about love, revenge and the cruelty of fate, sung in Italian with German and English surtitles, in Frank Castorf's 2019 staging that ties the story to the Spanish Civil War, fascism and colonial history. Conducted by Massimo Zanetti with Guanqun Yu, Luciano Ganci and Pavel Yankovsky, it runs about 3 hours 45 minutes with one interval, is recommended for ages 16 and up, and takes place at the Deutsche Oper, one of Berlin's main opera houses.
