About
Premiere of Richard Wagner's 1843 Romantic opera about a cursed sailor who can only be redeemed by a woman's fidelity, at Berlin's Deutsche Oper (one of the city's major opera houses). Director Milo Rau, known for provocative political theatre, uses it for a documentary-film-style journey through postwar German guilt, memory and German-Israeli relations, conducted by Giedrė Šlekytė with Tomasz Konieczny as the Dutchman and Aušrinė Stundytė as Senta.
