Screening of the restored 1969 Belgian documentary about a five-month scientific expedition to the then largely unexplored Great Barrier Reef in 1967, shot partly by diver Ron Taylor (later known for the film Jaws) and shown in the English version at the Deutsche Kinemathek's Film Restored festival, with an introduction by Bruno Mestdagh of the Belgian film archive Cinematek. The meditative 92-minute film, premiered at the Venice Film Festival, was digitally restored in 2K from a 35 mm internegative and doubles as a record of a reef now threatened by pollution and climate change.
