«Über den Baustil, den politischen Stil und den Genossen Henselmann»

About

A free panel discussion at the Münzenberg Forum in Berlin about the 1951 newspaper attack by Neues Deutschland editor Rudolf Herrnstadt on architect Hermann Henselmann (Henselmann designed Berlin's Karl-Marx-Allee buildings and the Weberwiese high-rise), a high point of the East German 'formalism dispute' over architectural style. Author Florentine Anders (novel 'Die Allee') and architectural theorist Clemens Helmke ask whether the two were true adversaries or staged the public clash to their mutual benefit; registration is required.
