About

A one-hour evening lecture at the Samurai Museum Berlin arguing that archaeological finds from the Kofun period (late 4th–5th century Japan) show weapons and horses in burial mounds served religious and prestige purposes, helping elites build alliance networks, rather than proving a warrior elite of mounted fighters. The Kofun period is named for the large keyhole-shaped burial mounds of early Japan.
