About
"Hirten" (Shepherds) is a French-language drama from Canada and France (2024, 113 min, shown with German subtitles) by director Sophie Deraspe, based on Mathyas Lefebure's autobiographical novel. It follows a burned-out Montréal copywriter who becomes a shepherd in the Provence and spends a summer in the Alps with 827 sheep, undercutting the dropout dream while still fulfilling it; it was named best Canadian film at Toronto 2024 and screens at ACUDkino, an arthouse cinema in Berlin.
