Austin Martin White: The lie, the larp and the lusophile

A solo exhibition at Capitain Petzel, a contemporary art gallery in Berlin, by Detroit-born, Philadelphia-based painter Austin Martin White. His layered paintings and works on paper, made with polyethylene film, screen mesh, rubber and spray paint, draw on Brazilian colonial history, the Baroque sculptor Aleijadinho and the popular cordel pamphlet tradition to ask how stories harden into accepted history. The show runs 10 September to 17 October 2026.
